How to download YouTube videos

This guide shows step by step how to download YouTube videos as MP4 or MP3 with YTindir on iPhone, Android and desktop. No app installation required.

General steps (all devices)

    Copy the link. On YouTube tap the Share button under the video and choose Copy link. On desktop you can copy the address bar URL.

    Paste into YTindir. Paste the link into the box on the home page (the Paste button reads your clipboard) and press Fetch. The title, channel, duration and estimated file size for every quality are listed.

    Pick a quality. For music choose MP3 128 kbps (small) or MP3 320 kbps (best); for video 360p, 720p HD or 1080p Full HD. Sizes help you save mobile data.

    Download. The file is prepared on the server (usually 5–40 seconds), then the Download button appears. The file stays available for a while.

On iPhone and iPad (Safari)

  1. In the YouTube app tap Share → Copy link. Alternatively, if you added YTindir to your home screen, it appears in the Share sheet and you can send the video directly.
  2. Open YTindir in Safari, tap the box, choose Paste and press Fetch.
  3. Pick a quality and tap Prepare. When ready, tap Download.
  4. Safari shows a download arrow in the top right. The file is saved to Files → Downloads. Play MP3s from the Files app; save MP4s to Photos via Share → Save Video.
Tip: if Safari plays the file instead of downloading it, tap the Share icon in the player and choose Save to Files. iOS 13 or later is required.

On Android (Chrome)

  1. On YouTube tap Share → Copy link, or choose YTindir directly.
  2. Paste the link, pick a quality, tap Prepare and Download.
  3. The file is saved to Downloads; open it from the notification panel.

On desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux)

The same steps work in any browser. The file is saved to your browser’s download folder. For 1080p, video and audio are fetched separately and merged on the server, so preparation can take a bit longer.

Common problems

“The limit for this video is 30 minutes”
Guests can download videos up to 30 minutes. Sign up for free: videos up to 1 hour and 10 downloads per hour.
“Your hourly download limit is used up”
There is an hourly limit to share server resources fairly. It resets after the time shown in the message.
“YouTube requires verification”
YouTube sometimes flags servers as bots. Try again in a few minutes; if it persists the site admin can fix it with a cookies file.
1080p is greyed out
The video was not uploaded in 1080p. The highest available quality is marked automatically.
